The project
Chevrat Shas 26, Jerusalem
Plan 101-1331131 was approved on 16 June 2026 and adds a storey and eight new homes to an existing building at Chevrat Shas 26, in the Mea Shearim quarter of Jerusalem. The approved building appendix, drawn on 21 September 2025, places the addition above four existing levels, under a pitched roof clad in the same stone as the facade below. Construction has not started; the project stands at the permit stage.
Chevrat Shas is a narrow residential street on the edge of Mea Shearim, one of the first quarters built outside the Old City walls in the 1870s, and it runs into Beit Yisrael immediately to the north. The Mea Shearim market street is 250 m away and Shabbat Square 500 m, both inside a ten minute walk. The Shivtei Israel light rail stop is a 400 m walk, Damascus Gate and the Old City walls stand 1 km to the south, and Mahane Yehuda Market is 1 km to the west.
The approved elevations describe a building in the idiom the quarter has kept: stone cladding across every facade, arched window openings on the upper floors, and shallow balconies on the street front. The new storey carries its own arched openings under a pitched roof, which the sections draw as a gable running the depth of the plot. The eight homes the plan creates come out of that addition, on a plot already built to the street line on both sides.
The timeline below is anchored on the approval date of 16 June 2026. On the standard Israeli sequence, the appeal window closes around September 2026, works begin around October 2026, the structure reaches weather tight cover in mid 2027, finishing works run through early 2028, and handover falls in June 2028. These dates are calculated from the approval, and no schedule of the developer's own has been published. The plan record names no marketing company, and no sales site, price list or apartment mix has been published for this address, which is the normal picture for a small urban renewal permit at this point in the cycle. Typologies, sizes and prices will be added here as they are released.
